“定远”号战斗舰为大清国北洋舰队的主力舰。  1881年开工 ，同年12月28日“定远”舰下水， 耗费约140万两白银， 当时堪称 “亚洲第一巨舰”。甲午战争期间，定远作为主力舰抗击日寇，最终折戟沉沙，时至今日已化为我们忠心爱国抵御外辱的符号。定远舰现有1:1规格的定远舰模型停泊在山东威海刘公岛基地。

此次壁画创作是应山东威海市政府邀请， 特为纪念抗日战争胜利70 周年暨甲午战争120 周年所做， 原作现陈列于威海港定远舰舱内，以供游客欣赏缅怀往昔。

The creation of the murals should be Shandong Weihai municipal government invited, specially designed to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the war of resistance against Japan had done. The original is now on display in the Weihai port Dingyuan ship cabin, for visitors to enjoy the memory of the past.
